You can certainly start with the bare bones if you’re on a budget. That’s what I did until I saved up for my first webcam, which was then a popular choice – the Logitech C922.
However, if you have some money to spare – it’s the smart choice to buy a separate webcam right away.

Pros:
- Great budget option
- Great autofocus
- Sturdy
- Durable
Cons:
- Maximum frame rate is 30 FPS (frames per second). A higher frame rate equals smoother stream. 30 FPS is enough for most streamers.
- Not the best white balance. Good white balance helps the image to look more natural.
Logitech C922
Pros:
- Another affordable webcam model
- Two microphones for stereo recording
- Automatic light correction and good low light performance
Cons:
- Can stream with 60 FPS, but only at 720p resolution. 720p is also referred to as HD resolution, while 1080p is Ultra HD. 720P isn’t considered very sharp for today’s monitors, so it’s best to stream at 1080p resolution with 30 FPS.
- Background removal requires third-party software
Logitech Stream Cam
Pros:
- 1080p with up to 60 FPS
- Face tracking feature
- Superior low light performance
- Can easily switch between landscape and portrait modes
Cons:
- More pricey than the first two options
- USB-C cable is a little short
Logitech Brio
Pros:
- 4k resolution when streaming with 30 FPS or 1080p with 60 FPS
- Facial recognition
- Focus shift based on movement
